MARTIN, Tenn. - Missouri State STUNT (7-11, 2-1 Mid America West) held both of its opponents scoreless on the first day of its weekend tournament hosted by UT Martin on Saturday. The Bears started the day with a quick win over Centenary College (3-13) before dominating its second showing against Northern Kentucky (0-13, 0-6 MAWC) at Skyhawk Fieldhouse. The win extends Missouri State's record-winning streak to four games.
"Our second game today was a great warmup going into our games tomorrow," head coach
Kennedy Wingbermuehle said. "I'm looking forward to playing two more challenging games tomorrow and seeing how the team compares to No. 3-ranked UT Martin.
Missouri State 12, Centenary College 0 (8 Rounds)
The Bears got the job done in their first-ever matchup against a Division III program, defeating Centenary College, 12-0, in a condensed eight-round affair. Fresh off its 11-0 win in eight rounds over Southwest Baptist in its most recent outing, the Bears took every point this time around with two points in each of the first three quarters. MoState put the finishing touches with six points on the board in the team routine.Â
Missouri State 22, Northern Kentucky 0
Back in the traditional 16-round format, Missouri State shut out No. 7-ranked Northern Kentucky, 22-0, in the first-ever matchup between the two DI squads. The Bears put up three points in both the partner stunts and pyramid & tosses quarters, but grabbed all four points in the jumps & tumbling to take a 10-0 lead into the team routine. Missouri State clicked off point after point in the final quarter to cement the shutout victory.
Each of Missouri State's last three victories as part of its four-game winning streak have been shutouts. The win against Northern Kentucky was MoState's first-ever shutout in a full 16-round game.

The Bears finish its UT Martin Tournament with a pair of DI matchups against established STUNT programs. Missouri State takes on host UT Martin (3-3, 2-2 MAWC) on Sunday at 11:15 a.m. and then ends the tournament with a rematch from last week against DI No. 6-ranked Central Arkansas (2-8, 1-4 MAWC) at 1:45 p.m. UT Martin won both its games on Saturday against UCA and Centenary to improve its winning streak to three. Central Arkansas lost to UT Martin, 16-7, but came back to take down Northern Kentucky, 20-2, to end its first day.Â
