SHAWNEE, Okla. - The Missouri State STUNT team won its first-ever game in its inaugural season Saturday night with a thrilling 12-11 victory over crosstown rival Drury at Noble Complex at Oklahoma Baptist University. The Bears opened the day by scoring its first points in program history in a 16-10 loss to Texas Woman's University.

Texas Woman's University 16, Missouri State 10
MoState went head-to-head against the Texas Woman's University Pioneers (5-2) to open its second-ever tournament. The Bears scored their first points in competition by taking a point in partner stunts in the first quarter. Missouri State outscored TWU in the second quarter by taking pyramids & tosses, 4-2, to take a 5-4 lead to halftime. The Pioneers shut out the Bears, 4-0, in jumps & tumbling and took the team routine, 8-5, to secure the win for the No. 11-ranked team in Division II.
Peighton Powell led the way for the Bears with a game rating score of 29 points.
Missouri State 12, Drury 11
Missouri State took home its first-ever win as a team against DII No. 13 Drury (0-2) in a thrilling finish that went to the end. The Bears and Panthers split the four points in partner stunts while the Bears won another pyramids & tosses quarter, 3-2. Missouri State shutout Drury in jumps & tumbling, 2-0, to win the third quarter for the first time. Leading by three entering the final quarter, the Bears held on to the lead even with a 7-5 Drury advantage in the team routine to secure the one-point victory.

Missouri State STUNT (1-5) will finish its second tournament tomorrow, competing on a Sunday for the first time. The Bears will play back-to-back games against No. 1-ranked Club Division Oklahoma State (4-2) at 5:15 p.m. and close out in a rematch from last week against DII No. 1-ranked host Oklahoma Baptist (6-1) at 6:30 p.m. OSU lost to Davenport and defeated Vanguard on Saturday.
