Cross Country Team Headed to SIUE Cougar Challenge

The Missouri State cross country team will compete at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville for the SIUE Cougar Challenge on Sept. 17 at 5:15 p.m. This will be the second meet for the Bears this season, the last meet being a second-place finish at the SBU Bearcat Invitational.

This will be the first race of the year for some of the Bears. Sophomores Emily Beaver and Ashton Stubbs are expected to lead the Bears with freshman Monica Smith potentially earning a top-five finish herself. This will be Smith's first race as a Bear, after transferring to MSU from SBU last season.

This meet will be the Bears' final tune-up before their home meet, the Richard Clark Invitational sponsored by the Greater Springfield Sports Commission. This meet will feature some of the top talent from across the Midwest, including national powerhouse Texas Tech. The Richard Clark Invitational will be on Oct. 2 at the Missouri State country course at Spingfield Underground. For more information on the meet, visit bearstrack.net.
