TULSA, Okla. - The Missouri State cross country team opens the 2013 season at the Hurricane Cross Country Festival on Saturday.

The women's race is set for 8:35 a.m., at Mohawk Park with the Bears competing against USTFCCCA preseason No. 21 Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Louisiana-Monroe and meet-host Tulsa.

"We're still building up because conference is Nov. 2, so the first few meets don't really count," said third-year head coach Alick Musukuma. "If we can be ready for Nov. 2, that will be the most important thing."

The meet will be scored as four duals, with MSU going head-to-head against the other four teams.

"This race I'm looking at everybody performing well because this is only two miles and it's a flat course," Musukuma said. "It's at Mohawk Park, so at least it will give me an idea as a coach to see where we are and who did what over the summer."

The Bears have opened the season the last two years in Tulsa, with a 3-2 record at the Hurricane Cross Country Festival.
