Hipp Will Not Return to Missouri State for 2011-12 Season

Missouri State Director of Athletics Kyle Moats announced Friday (May 27) that the contract of head cross country coach Greg Hipp will not be renewed for the upcoming year.

“I want to acknowledge Coach Hipp’s service to Missouri State and his many achievements as a coach,” said Moats. “We feel that a change of direction is the best thing for the program at this time. He has represented Missouri State well during his tenure, and we wish him continued success in the future.”

Hipp, who is also an assistant coach for the MSU women’s track and field team, completed his seventh season as head cross country coach in 2010-11 and was involved with the Bears’ track team for nine seasons. He is a native of Charlotte, N.C., and serves on the cross country committees for both USA Track & Field and the USTFCCCA.

A search for Hipp’s replacement will begin immediately, Moats said.
