FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Missouri State University cross country team ran to an 11th-place finish in the 25th Chile Pepper Festival at Agri Park on the campus of Arkansas Saturday.

Sophomore Tenaly Smith led the way for the Bears, finishing the five-kilometer course in a personal-best 19:54.9. The host Razorbacks took the team title with 16 points over Loyola Marymount (88), Central Arkansas (98), Texas Tech (98) and North Texas (106).

Freshman Megan Nickles had her second consecutive strong performance for the Bears, crossing the line in 20:06.5 in 144th place.

A trio of sophomores, Cindy Forde (20:17.4), Olivia Francka (20:27.80) and Mackenzie Weis (20:45.30), finished 159th, 179th and 194th, respectively.

Freshmen Christina Bradshaw and Elizabeth Frazier rounded out the Missouri State contingent in times of 22:01.4 and 23:16.1 for 271st and 300th place overall.

Missouri State competes in the Missouri Valley Conference championships, in Des Moines, Iowa at Drake, Saturday, Nov. 2. The race is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
