Volleyball's Calli Norman Earns AVCA All-Region Accolades
SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State volleyball player Calli Norman was recognized Wednesday by the American Volleyball Coaches Assocation with an honorable mention spot on the all-Central Region team.
The sophomore from St. Charles, Mo., is Missouri State’s first AVCA all-region performer since Ashley Warren in 2005 and 12th overall. The Central Region includes schools from Texas, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, North Dakota and South Dakota.
A first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference selection for the second year in a row, Norman led the league with a .364 hitting percentage for the season, a figure that ranks second in school history. She averaged 3.03 kills, 0.94 blocks and 3.62 points per set for the Bears this year, and her .317 career hitting percentage sits third in MSU history.
Norman was the MVC Player of the Week Sept. 8 and was the Bears’ lone representative on the MVC all-tournament team.
The Bears finished the season 21-10 overall and 14-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference for a second-place league finish. Missouri State has reached 20 wins for 11 consecutive seasons, the seventh longest active streak in the NCAA.
