The Missouri State volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 22-7 overall record and a 15-3 mark in Missouri Valley Conference action to finish second in the league standings. The Bears now head to Cedar Falls, Iowa, where they take the No. 2 seed into the State Farm MVC Volleyball Championship and will open Friday at 5 p.m. against the winner of Thursday’s quarterfinal between No. 3 Wichita State and No. 6 Indiana State. The other half of the bracket includes No. 1 UNI, No. 4 Creighton and No. 5 Illinois State. The championship match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Championship History
Missouri State has appeared in six of the last 10 MVC Tournament finals. MSU is 26-21 in the tournament with titles coming in 1993, 2005 and 2008.
    The Bears won the 2005 title in Cedar Falls, beating Illinois State in their first match before sweeping Wichita State in the finals. WSU had gone through the MVC season unbeaten that season.

Last Week
Missouri State ran its winning streak to seven with victories at Indiana State and Illinois State to close the regular season.
    Friday, Kaitlin Jaeger had 15 kills and hit .636 to lead the Bears to a sweep of the Sycamores.    Saturday, in a repeat of the MVC opener in September, Illinois State won the first two sets before the Bears rallied to win in five. Carly Thomas had a triple-double with 10 kills, 48 assists and 18 digs and Calli Norman had 15 kills in the 3-2 win.
