The Missouri State volleyball team (19-9, 10-5 Missouri Valley Conference) takes its winning streak to Illinois this week for a pair of matches against the two teams battling for the sixth and final spot in the MVC Tournament. The Bears visit Bradley (12-11, 6-8) at 7 p.m. Thursday, then head to Chicago for a 3 p.m. Saturday contest at Loyola (12-15, 6-8).
Bradley is 12-11 overall and 6-8 in league play. The Braves have five regulars averaging at least 1.97 kills per set, with Amy Angelos leading the way at 3.28 and a .322 hitting percentage. Bradley averages 13.24 kills, 1.19 aces, 17.06 digs and 1.72 blocks per set, hitting .193 compared to .211 for the opposition.
Loyola is 12-15 overall and 6-8 in MVC matches. The Ramblers hit .193 and allow opponents to hit .211 while averaging 12.34 kills, 1.37 aces, 14.65 digs and 1.98 blocks per set. LUC has been without the services of multiple-time league Freshman of the Week Morgan Reardon and her 3.63 kills per set for the last 13 matches.
MSU holds a 46-8 series edge with Bradley and has won 25 of the last 26 meetings with the Braves, the loss coming in Peoria in 2008.
Missouri State and Loyola have played twice, a 3-1 MSU win in Chicago in 1987 and a 3-0 win by the Bears on Oct. 18 of this season.
First Meetings This Season
The Bears swept Loyola and Bradley at home on Oct. 18 and 19, combining to hit .281 against the two clubs in two similar matches. Kaitlin Jaeger led MSU offensively in both contests, finishing with 13 kills against Loyola and 11 versus Bradley and hitting .469 for the week with just one attack error.
