The Missouri State volleyball team (11-8, 3-4 Missouri Valley Conference) joins in the Homecoming festivities this weekend with a pair of matches at Hammons Student Center. The Bears host league newcomer Loyola (8-11, 3-4) at 7 p.m. Friday in a match that will immediately precede the Twilight Tipoff basketball preview event. Missouri State continues play Saturday at 7 p.m. against Bradley (10-6, 4-3).
Loyola is 8-11 overall and 3-4 in MVC matches. The Ramblers are led by multiple-time league Freshman of the Week Morgan Reardon, who averages 3.63 kills per set. As a team, LUC hits .182 and allows opponents to hit .203 while averaging 12.04 kills, 1.21 aces, 14.04 digs and 2.06 blocks per set.
Bradley is 10-6 overall and in the top half of the conference standings with a 4-3 record. The Braves have four regulars averaging at least 2.17 kills per set, with Amy Angelos leading the way at 3.50 and a .339 hitting percentage. Bradley hits .215 as a team compared to .203 for the opposition and averages 13.65 kills, 1.22 aces, 17.00 digs and 1.72 blocks per set.
Missouri State and Loyola have played one time, with the Bears earning a 3-1 win in Chicago in 1987.
MSU holds a 45-8 series edge with Bradley and has won 24 of the last 25 meetings with the Braves, the loss coming in Peoria in 2008.
