Missouri State (8-5, 0-1 Missouri Valley Conference) continues its conference-opening road trip this week with a visit to Iowa to take on Drake (2-11, 0-2) at 7 p.m. Friday and UNI (8-4, 1-0) at 7 p.m. Saturday.
After Saturday’s contest, which marks roughly the midway point of the season at 15 matches, the Bears will have played both teams picked ahead of them in the MVC preseason poll and a total of seven teams that made last season’s NCAA Tournament.

The Opponents
Drake is 2-11 overall and 0-2 in league play entering its Wednesday match with Nebraska Omaha. The Bulldogs suffered road losses to Loyola and Bradley in their first weekend of MVC competition, and hit .147 as a team compared to .226 for opponents with averages of 10.74 kills, 0.86 aces, 15.10 digs and 2.06 blocks per set.
UNI is 8-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play with a victory at Loyola. The Panthers enter their Friday match with Wichita State on a seven-match winning streak that includes a victory over No. 17 Louisville. The Panthers have five players averaging at least two kills per set and hit .226 as a team while holding opponents to a .176 attack efficiency. UNI averages 13.54 kills, 0.93 aces, 16.39 digs and 2.52 blocks per set.

The Series
MSU is 51-9 against Drake and has won 27 of the last 28 meetings, the exception being a loss in Springfield in 2010.
The all-time series with UNI is 44-20 in favor of the Panthers. UNI had won seven in a row before the Bears snapped the streak in Springfield last season.
