ST. LOUIS - Missouri State junior Althia Maximilien and sophomore Robiann Broomfieldhave been named Missouri Valley Conference Co-Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the league announced Wednesday.

The pair helped the Bears finish second at the season-opening Holiday Preview at Iowa State Dec. 6.

Maximilien set the school record in the 300 meters in 39.31 seconds to break Cheasa Gibson's mark of 39.80, set Jan. 12, 2002 at the Illinois Invitational.

Broomfield won both the long jump and triple jump, respectively, with marks of 5.55 and 12.49 meters.

Maximilien shares her honor with Alethia Marrero of Indiana State and Broomfield shares hers with DeAnna Price of Southern Illinois.

The award for Maximilien is the second of her career as she also picked up Athlete of the Week honors March 27, 2012. Broomfield received the honor for the first time.

The Bears return to action Jan. 17-18 at the Holiday Invitational at Nebraska's Bob Devaney Sports Center.
