Broomfield Named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Missouri State sophomore Robiann Broomfield has been named Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Broomfield won both the long jump and triple jump in the Bears' season-opening Holiday Preview at Iowa State Friday.
The Clarendon, Jamaica native claimed the long jump with a mark of 5.55 meters and the long jump with a mark of 12.49 meters to help Missouri State to a second-place finish as a team at the invitational hosted by the Big 12 school.
Now in its 15th year of existence, The Valley's Scholar-Athlete program honors its student-athletes for their athletic performance for a one-week period and academic success in the classroom. Broomfield carries a 3.92 grade-point average in psychology.
The Bears return to action at Nebraska's two-day Holiday Inn Invitational starting Friday, Jan. 17 at 4 p.m., in Lincoln, Neb.
