ASU Kickoff Klassic Schedule Get Acrobat Reader

The Missouri State track and field squad will participate in its first indoor meet of the season Friday (Dec. 2) at the Arkansas State University Kickoff Klassic in Jonesboro, Ark. The Bears’ sprinters and field event athletes will compete in the meet.

Missouri State returns four NCAA Outdoor Division I West Preliminary qualifiers from last season in Shantel Llewellyn, Kimsue Grant, Jeláni Kelly, and Jordan Bond. Llewellyn qualified for preliminaries in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes last season. The Toronto, Ontario native earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors during the Bears’ 2010-11 outdoor season in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, as well as the 4x100 meter relay. Grant qualified for the NCAA Preliminaries in the triple jump last season, while earning both indoor and outdoor All-MVC recognition. The Montego Bay, Jamaica native was Missouri State’s only athlete to earn All-MVC honors (triple jump) during the Bears’ indoor season. Grant received All-MVC accolades during Missouri State’s outdoor season in the long jump, triple jump, and 4x100 meter relay. Jordan Bond also qualified in the triple jump with a mark of 12.43 meters.Kelly is the Bears’ final returning NCAA qualifier and finished 35th in the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Division I West Prelimary Round in the discus with a distance of 149-10.42 feet. The St. Louis, Mo. native is a two-time NCAA Regional Qualifier for the Bears, also competing in the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Regional meet in the discus.

Up next, the track and field Bears will be off until the new year when they head to Lawrence, Kan. to compete in the Bill Easton Classic on Jan. 7.
