SPRINGFIELD - The Missouri State track & field team will again face a challenging slate in 2013-14, including meets hosted by several national powers, director of track & field and cross country Ronald Boyce, announced Monday.

The schedule is highlighted by the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships in Cedar Falls, Iowa, March 1-2 and the outdoor championships in Carbondale, Ill., May 6-7.

"This year's schedule will be a challenging one and should provide lots of excitement," Boyce said. "More importantly, our ladies are ready for this level of competition."

The indoor season opens Dec. 6 at the Holiday Preview, hosted by Iowa State. The host Cyclones finished 12th in the final USTFCCCA indoor rankings of the season last year. The Bears will then take a month and a half off, returning to action at the Holiday Inn Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., on Jan. 17-18.

The meet hosted by the Huskers begins a two-week stretch of facing quality Big Ten opposition as Missouri State travels to Indiana's Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington on Jan. 24-25.

The Bears then head to Wichita State for the Varsity Apartments Invitational on Jan. 31-Feb. 1. The Shockers were No. 19 in the rankings to end the indoor season.

MSU returns to the state of Missouri and Columbia for the Missouri Invitational Feb. 7 before going back to Ames, Iowa for the Iowa State Classic on Feb. 14-15.

The NCAA Indoor Championships are scheduled for March 14-15 in Albuquerque, N.M.

The outdoor year begins with a trip to the Tulsa Duels on March 22 followed by the 87th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays March 26-29. The Bears return to Columbia, Mo., April 12 for the Missouri Relays.

Missouri State travels to the Kansas Relays April 17-19 and will face the Jayhawks, the USTFCCCA's top-ranked outdoor squad last season.

The 105th Drake Relays are April 23-26 in Des Moines, then, the Bears head to Starkville, Miss., for Mississippi State's Jace LaCoste Invitational on May 3.

The NCAA Outdoor Preliminary Rounds are set for Mary 29-31 in Fayetteville, Ark., followed by the NCAA Championships June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore.
