Track and Field Bears Picked to Finish Third at Conference Championships

The Missouri State track and field squad will be preparing this week for the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Wichita State. Events will take place May 11-13 at Cassna Stadium in Wichita, Kan. The Bears are picked to finish third in the Valley’s pre-championships poll.
The Shockers are the favorite going into the meet this weekend, earning 60 total points. Illinois State comes in at a close second with 54 points. The Bears are tied for third with Southern Illinois (44 points). Rounding out the poll is Indiana State in fifth (37 points), UNI in sixth (23 points), Drake in seventh (17 points) and Bradley in eighth (nine points).
MSU is currently represented by eight athletes on the top five of the Valley’s Best List in nine different events. The Bears return seven All-MVC Indoor performers (Emily Beaver, Jordan Bon, Kimsue Grant, Ekate Lymon, Althia Maximilien, Merica Moncherry, and Gemma Smith) from MSU’s indoor championship team.
