Senior Gemma Smith and sophomore Robiann Broomfield will hope to improve upon their strong triple jump marks when the event begins Saturday at 10 a.m. Broomfield comes in ranked seventh the NCAA west region with a mark of 12.83 meters (42 feet, 1.25 inches). Smith is 38th in the triple jump with a top leap of 12.26 meters (40 feet, 2.75 inches).

“The weekend is going to be interesting,” said MSU Director of Track & Field Ronald Boyce. “We’ll see mainly relay action. In the 100 meters, we’ll see Shavonne and Pernell try to get going. We’ll see a 4x1, we’ll see a 4x4 and 4x2 relays and triple jumps for both Gemma and Robiann – we look forward to that. It’s a work weekend for us.”
Following the Drake Relays, Missouri State heads to Mississippi State for the Jace LaCoste Invitational on May 3.
