Bears Track and Field to Compete at 30th Sun Angel Track Classic
The Missouri State track and field team will send a select group of athletes to Tempe, Arizona, this weekend for the 30th Sun Angel Track Classic on the campus of Arizona State University.
Following her impressive debut in the discus throw, freshman Jelni Kelly will travel to Arizona attempting to better her 151-00 foot distance from last week. She is also expected to compete in the shot put. Senior Jamie Vest, who competed at the NCAA Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and teammate Terry Phillips, who competed at the Mideast Regional last year in the same event, will run this weekend. Staci Nelson is expected to join them in the steeplechase field on Saturday. The Bears will also send a number of sprinters to compete in various events. Missouri State is expected to enter a team in both the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays. The 30th Sun Angel Track Classic begins Friday with the hammer throw, the lone event of the day. Missouri State will not compete in the hammer throw, but will begin competition on Saturday with the first event occurring at 10:00 a.m. at Sun Angel Stadium.
