Broomfield Earns Co-MVC Field Athlete of the Week Honors

ST. LOUIS - Missouri State sophomore Robiann Broomfield has been named Co-Missouri Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Broomfield won the long jump (5.65 meters) and was second in the triple jump (12.25) at the season-opening Tulsa Duels on March 22. MSU went 5-1 in the dual meet with wins over host Tulsa, UMKC, South Dakota, Oral Roberts and Nebraska Omaha, with its only loss coming against Big 12 power Oklahoma State.
She then won the triple jump on the first day of the Vanderbilt Black & Gold on Friday in 12.53 meters, a mark that is ranked seventh in the west region, according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
A Clarendon, Jamaica, native, Broomfield was also named Co-MVC Field Athlete of the Week once during the indoor season on Dec. 18. She shared this week's award with Mary Thiesen of Indiana State.
Missouri State returns to action at the Missouri Relays April 12 in Columbia.
