ST. LOUIS - Missouri State senior sprinter/jumper Kimsue Grant was named a Missouri Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday (March 27).
A native of Arlington, Va., Grant earned the weekly award - the first of her career - by making a handful of stellar contributions for the Bears at the Mississippi State Conference Challenge in Starkville, Miss. on March 23. Grant earned second-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump with distances of 6.21 meters and 11.63 meters, respectively.
Grant's long jump distance ranks second among all NCAA Division I West region student-athletes and leads the MVC. In addition, her triple jump mark is ranked regionally and is among the conference's best. An update regarding specifics of the triple jump rankings is expected soon.
At the same meet, Grant also helped the Bears to school season-best times in the 4x100-meter (46.15) and 4x400-meter (3:49.25) relays.
Grant, a 2012 USTFCCCA Outdoor All-American, owns the third-best indoor distances in school history in the long jump (6.30 meters) and the triple jump (12.89 meters). She also has the third- and fifth-best marks in the outdoor triple jump with distances of 13.00 meters and 12.82 meters, respectively.
A six-time All-MVC pick, Grant has also excelled in the classroom with a 3.34 cumulative GPA and majors in accounting.
