NEW ORLEANS - Missouri State sprinter Althia Maximilien was named a USTFCCCA Second-Team All-American for the 2013 indoor track and field season, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Monday (March 11).
Maximilien, a sophomore, earned the All-American distinction thanks to her appearance last weekend at the NCAA Indoor Championship in Fayetteville, Ark. Maximilien placed 13th in the 400-meter dash preliminary round with a time of 53.33 seconds, good for the third-best time in school history.
First-team honors were given to those who placed in the championships' top eight in an event or were a member of an eight-person final. Second-team honors were earned by those who finished between ninth and 16th place.
The All-American award is the second of Maximilien's collegiate career. She was named an All-American honorable mention for the 2012 outdoor track and field season.
With the indoor season behind them, the Bears will resume action with the start of the outdoor season on March 15-16 when they travel to the Tulsa Duals in Tulsa, Okla.
