Kyger Sets Missouri State Record in the Mile Run at the Alex Wilson Invitational
Missouri State Track and Field standout Asher Kyger ran her final race of her career at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday, March 7 in South Bend, Ind. Kyger competed in the mile-run in hopes to earn a NCAA provisional mark and qualify for Nationals. She clocked a time of 4:48.67 in the race, setting a new Missouri State record, but falling just short of the NCAA qualifying time of 4:48.00. Kyger finished 12th overall in the race. On Friday, Missouri States' distance medley relay team set the school and conference record and reached the NCAA Provisional mark. The quad of Kyger, Yaneika Malcolm, Leander Ernest and Pasca Cheruiyot placed fourth in the event with a time of 11:24.02. The time set the Missouri State school record previously 11:39.84. They also broke the Missouri Valley Conference record of 11:29.20. In addition, the relay team reached the NCAA Provisional Mark of 11:30.00. The Alex Wilson Invitational wraps up the regular season for the Track and Field team. Up next for the Bears is the NCAA Indoor Championships.
