ST. LOUIS - The Missouri State track & field team has been chosen to finish seventh in the 2014 Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in a pre-championship poll of head coaches, the league announced Thursday.

Missouri State earned 31 points in the voting to finish ahead of Drake (16 points) and Bradley (15 points). Indiana State is the favorite, earning four first-place votes and 75 points overall.

The remaining five first-place votes were split between No. 2 Southern Illinois (two, 71 points) and No. 3 Wichita State (three, 65 points).

Illinois State was picked fourth with 48 points, followed by league-newcomer Loyola (46) and championship-host Northern Iowa (38).

The two-day meet begins on Saturday at the UNI Dome. Missouri will be looking for its seventh MVC indoor crown and first since a narrow 2.67-point victory over Wichita State in 2012.
