ST. LOUIS - Missouri State junior sprinter Althia Maximilien has been named Co-Missouri Valley Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Maximilien posted the top time in the MVC in the 400 meters at the Iowa State Classic Saturday, running 54.31 to place third overall. The time ranks 47th nationally this season.

Maximilen also anchored the Bears' best 4x400-meter relay of the season in 3:46.96, finishing ninth in the event.

The Co-MVC Track Athlete of the Week award, which Maximilien shares with Indiana State's Katie Wise, is her second of the season. A Bridgetown, Barbados native, Maximilien also earned the accolade Dec. 17. She also picked up outdoor athlete of the week plaudits March 27, 2012.

Missouri State returns to action at the MVC Indoor Track & Field Championships, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, March 1-2.
