Track and Field Bears Face-Off Against Defending Valley Champs

Wichita, Kan. - The Missouri State track and field squad will head to Wichita, Kan. this Friday and Saturday (Feb. 3-4). The Bears will compete in the Varsity Apartments Invitational at the Heskett Center, hosted by Wichita State. Wichita State is the two-time defending Missouri Valley Conference Champs. The Shockers are currently ranked 34th in the nation in the latest NCAA Division I indoor track and field rankings. Other competition for the Bears includes UT-Arlington, Doane, Nebraska-Omaha, Sam Houston State, and UMKC. Missouri State's Kimsue Grant will look to build off a stellar long jump performance from last week. Grant won the long jump at the Indiana University Relays with a personal best leap of 19-00.75. Jordan Bond added to the field group's performance by finishing third in the high jump with a height of 5-05.75. Another standout out for the Bears this past weekend was sophomore Erin Edwards. Edwards ran two personal bests. She finished third in the 3,000-meter run finals (9:58.51) and sixth in the 5,000-meter run finals (17:22.89). Events are tentatively scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. CT on Friday and 9:45 a.m. CT Saturday. Results will be made available on www.missouristatebears.com following the completion of events on Day One and Day Two.
