Three Bears Set Personal Bests at Razorback Invitational
The Missouri State track and field team traveled to Fayetteville, Ark., today for the first day of the Razorback Invitational. The Bears competed in the 200-meter dash and several field events on the day.
Leander Ernest set a personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.66 seconds. The time was good enough for 12th-place in the very competitive field. Teammate Rashida Allen also set a personal best with a 14-place time of 24.80 seconds.
In the field events, Mareneika Goffe placed fourth in the high jump. Her height of 5-06.00 tied her personal best in the event.
The weight throw saw another Bear set a personal best. Jelni Kelly threw a distance of 13.33 meters (43-09.00 feet), more than three feet beyond her previous best. Her performance was good for 16th place.
The Bears lone competitor in the long jump was Shawnt Middlebrook. She finished 16th with a distance of 5.39 meters (17-08.25 feet).
Today’s shot put event was moved to Saturday. The Bears will return to Fayetteville tomorrow to compete in distance, sprint and field events. Tomorrow’s schedule begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
