Missouri State Track and Field Kicks off 2008 Indoor Season
The Missouri State Track and Field team kicked off its indoor season at the 22nd Annual Missouri Invitational in Columbia, Mo inside the Hearnes Fieldhouse. Sophomores Leander Ernest and Cortenee Boulard were key performers in the 2008 season opener.
Ernest recorded the top finish for Missouri State, capturing first-place in the 600- yard run with a time of 1:23.87.
In the one mile run, Emily Fletcher clocked a personal best time of 5:06.43, earning a third-place finish. Fletcher dropped an impressive 19 seconds from her personal best.
Boulard recorded a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.77 and a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.25.
Boulard and Ernest, along with the Bears' Jacqui Lindsey and Yaneika Malcolm, took second in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:50.91.
Shawnte Middlebrook competed in the long jump for Missouri State. Middlebrook cleared a height of 5.51m to take home fourth.
The Bears will travel to Kansas State University on January 19 to compete in the Kansas State Wildcat Invitational.
