FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Missouri State track & field team opens the second semester traveling to the Arkansas Invitational at Randal Tyson Track Center Friday.

The Bears are coming off of a second-place finish at the season-opening Holiday Preview, hosted by Iowa State on Dec. 6.

The meet is slated to begin at 11 a.m., with running events to go off at 1 p.m. Free live results and live video on a pay-per-view basis will be available

The host Razorbacks open the season after winning their fourth SEC indoor championship and finished the season ranked fourth in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association final standings last March.

Also at the meet will be Tulsa, which finished eight in the Conference USA indoor championships in 2013.

Missouri State junior Althia Maximilien and sophomore Robiann Broomfield earned Missouri Valley Conference Track & Field Athletes of the week, respectively, for their performances at Iowa State.

Maximilien set the school record in the 300 meters in 39.31 seconds to break Cheasa Gibson's mark of 39.80, set Jan. 12, 2002 at the Illinois Invitational. Broomfield won both the long jump and triple jump, respectively, with marks of 5.55 and 12.49 meters.

Following the Arkansas Invitational, the Bears will head to Lincoln, Neb., for the two-day Holiday Inn Invitational, starting Jan. 17 at Nebraska's Devaney Center.
