Track and Field Bears Wrap-Up at John McDonnell Invitational

The Missouri State track and field squad had a solid outing at the John McDonnell Invitational. The Bears finished up events Saturday (April 21) night in Fayetteville, Ark.
“We walked away with more personal bests”, said director of track and field and cross country Ron Boyce, “It was a quiet day, but we got a lot of work done and I’m pleased with the effort.”
Althia Maximilien finished fourth in the 400-meter dash in 53.36, a new personal best. Maximilien’s time improvement bumps her up one spot to third on the MSU All-Time Best list. Erin Edwards ran a personal best in the 5,000-meter run finishing second with a time of 17:30.41. Emily Beaver finished third in the event in 17:47.87.
Merica Moncherry finished second (11.97) in her heat and Pernell Joseph finished third (11.87) in her heat of the 100-meter dash. Kimsue Grant tied her personal best of 12.27 in the event. Joseph and Moncherry finished second (24.29) and third (24.31) in their heats, respectively, in the 200-meter dash, as well. Grant ran another personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.99. Nicole Thate finished second in her 800-meter run heat with a time of 2:16.37. In the 100-meter hurdles, Gabriella Ade-Onojobi finished third in her heat and qualified for the finals with a personal best time of 14.06. Jeláni Kelly finished fourth in the discus with a distance of 44-10.25.
The Bears will travel to Des Moines, Iowa next to compete in the Drake Relays April 26-28.
