Track and Field Bears Use Razorback Spring Invitational to Write Names in MSU History
March 31, 2012 FAYETTEVILLE - The Missouri State track and field squad had a tremendous day at the Razorback Spring Invitational. The Bears finished up events Saturday (March 31) evening at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville. MSU had numerous personal best performances, as well as a few new additions to the MSU all-time top performers’ lists. Freshman sensation Althia Maximilien continued her dominance in the 400-meter dash, winning the event with a time of 53.63. Maximilien now ranks as the fourth fastest runner on the Bears’ all-time top performers list. Erin Edwards ran a personal best 10:25.37 in the 3,000-meter run, ranking her as the second highest all-time performer in MSU history in the event. Emily Beaver finished third in the 1,500-meter run. Beaver’s personal best time of 4:28.37 shattered her previous personal best by over 30 seconds. Her time also puts her as the third best all-time performer in the event. Nicole Thate finished second in the 800-meter run with a personal best time of 2:13.79. The Bears’ 4x100-meter relay squad (Alyx Dull, Pernell Joseph, Kimsue Grant, Merica Moncherry) placed second in the event (45.66).
Jordan Bond placed third in the high jump with a personal best leap of 5-06.50. Joseph took home third in the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 11.74. Dull also ran a personal best in the event (12.24). Maximilien, Joseph, and Moncherry finished third (23.91), fourth (23.92) and fifth (24.00), respectively, in the 200-meter dash. Joseph and Moncherry’s times were both personal bests. Up next, the Bears will trek to Columbia, Mo. to compete in the Tom Botts Invitational April 14. |
