Track and Field Bears Have Solid Outing at Bobby Lane Invitational

ARLINGTON, Texas -
The Missouri State track and field squad completed the Bobby Lane Invitational late Saturday (March 24) night. The Bears competed at Mavericks Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Jeláni Kelly’s discus throw of 159-11.25 made her the second all-time top performer in MSU history. Kelly’s throw earned her a fourth place finish at the meet and was a new personal best.
Althia Maximilien proved to be a force to reckon with during the outdoor season, winning the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.23. Kimsue Grant also demonstrated her skill in the first outdoor meet of the season. Grant finished second in the long jump with a distance of 19-07.75.
The Bears 4x100-meter relay squad consisting of Ekate Lymon, Joseph Pernell, Grant and Merica Moncherry finished fourth (45.76). Emma Burditt took home fourth in the 5,000-meter run (18:13.88). Gabriella Ade-Onojobi placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.35). Shawnisha Damisch finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.44). Jordan Bond finished fifth in the high jump (5-05.00). Ahshane Johnson finished fifth in the triple jump (38-06.25).
MSU saw quite a few personal best performances at the meet. Emily Beaver ran a personal best 4:38.21 in the 1,500-meter run. Alyx Dull ran a personal best 12.36 in the 100-meter dash. Kimsue Grant (25.27) and Sydney Peavy (26.04) both had personal bests in the 200-meter dash. Former Bear Kara Graham also ran a personal best (24.79) in the 200-meter dash as an unattached competitor.
The Bears will travel to Fayetteville next to compete in the Razorback Spring Invitational on March 31.
