Personal Bests Galore for Track and Field Bears at ISU Classic

Complete Results Day 1

Ames, Iowa -

It was a day of personal bests for the track and field Bears. Missouri State completed their first day events late Friday (Feb. 10) night during the second session of the 2012 Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa. All events were non-seeded.

“It was exactly what we hoped we would do and definitely gave people more than they bargained for”, said director of track and field and cross country Ron Boyce, “I’m extremely happy with our results and excited about our prospects for tomorrow.”

Emily Beaver won the 3,000-meter run with a personal best time of 9:51.65. Beaver’s performance lands her just outside the top-five all-time top performers at MSU in the event. Erin Edwards ran a personal best in the 5,000-meter run, finishing sixth with a time of 17:11.29. Nicole Thate finished just shy of her personal best in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.84.

The Bears sprint group continued the personal best trend, as Pernell Joseph ran a personal best in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.58. Joseph’s time was just .03 outside of finishing in the top-five all-time performers at MSU. Kara Graham and Kimsue Grant had a pair of personal bests in the 200-meter dash. Graham finished third (24.55), while Grant finished tenth (25.09).

Gemma Smith won the long jump while tying her personal best leap of 18-05.25. Smith finished second in the triple jump with a personal best of 38-04.00. Jordan Bond won the high jump with a personal best jump of 5-06.50.


 

 

The Iowa State Classic resumes tomorrow at 11 a.m. CT with the seeded events. Complete results will be made available at www.missouristatebears.com following the completion of events.
