Missouri State Career Bests

At Missouri State: As the all-time top performer at MSU in the 3,000m steeple chase; third all-time in the 3,000m run; fourth all-time in the mile and 5,000m run; and fifth all-time in the 5K and 1,500m run, Terry Phillips, a former NCAA National Qualifier, will be a top distance runner for the Bears.

2011 Track:

Indoor: Took home first place finishes in both the 3,000m (10:05.43) and the 1-mile run (4:59.47) at the SIU Salukis Open...Placed second at the Indiana University Relays in the 3,000m with a time of 9:40.25...Ran a personal best in the 5,000m in a 16:51.08 performance at the Tyson Invitational where she finished second.

Outdoor: Did not compete for the Bears during the outdoor season.

2010 Cross Country: Set a 6K personal best (21:13.67) at the NCAA Midwest Regional....Finished eighth at the MVC Championship (17:49.29).

2010 Track:

Indoor: Won four of the five races she competed in and finishing second in another....Won the 3,000m at the MVC Indoor Championships (9:35.40)....Also won the 3,000m at the Iowa State Classic (9:35.79)....Finished second in the event at the Indiana Relays (9:38.44)....At the EIU Mega Meet, she won both the mile (4:55.41) and the 3,000m (10:00.48).

Outdoor: Did not compete in the outdoor season.

2009 CC: In the Missouri State Classic, Phillips finished fifth overall, with a time of 17:36.00, the best 5K time in the Valley for 2009....Finished first overall at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational with a time of 17:40.00....Earned a 12th-place finish at the Chile Pepper Festival with a 21:26.09, fourth all-time at Missouri State....Won the individual title at the 2009 MVC Championship with a time of 18:32.00....Competed in NCAA Midwest Regional, finishing 18th and earning All-Region honors....She was a two-time Runner of the Week in the MVC.

2009 Track: Phillips' 2009 track campaign began with

Indoor: Had a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter run at the Missouri Invitational...Ran at the MVC Indoor Championships with a third-place finish in the mile (4:55.08), a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter (10:01.45) and a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter run (17:19.00).

Outdoor: Ran 10:27.19 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Sun Angel Classic, placing second....placed second in the distance relay at the Kansas Relays with a time of 12:04.10....Set a new Missouri State record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:19.45, but still placed second....Competed in the MVC Outdoor Championships and ran a 10:29.19 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase....In the NCAA Mideast Regionals, ran a 10:35.57 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase....Qualified for the NCAA National Championship, where she ran 10:29.16 in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase.

2008 CC: Had a third-place finish, just behind teammates Pasca Cheruiyot and Jamie Vest....Earned All-Midwest Region honors for her 21st-place finish while setting a personal-best time of 21:33.25 at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship....Ran a personal-best time of 18:00.04 in the 5K MVC Cross Country Championship....Received All-Conference accolades for her seventh-place finish in the MVC Championship race.

2008 Track:

Indoor: Had a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Missouri Relays....Ran to a second-place finish in the 1,500-meter run at the Big Bear Invitational....Set a personal best in the 1,500-meter run at the Arkansas Twilight while finishing 10th....Received All-MVC honors for her second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the MVC Outdoor Championships....Finished ninth in the 1,500-meter run at the MVC Outdoor Championships....Placed 11th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Mideast Region Championships.

Outdoor: Did not compete during the Bears' outdoor season.

2007 CC: Competed in one race during her freshman season, finishing third overall at the 4K Washington University Early Bird meet.

Background: Phillips won four state titles for Coach Tom Bates at St. Mary's High in Independence, Mo....Phillips won the 3,200 and 1,600-meter titles at the Class 2 state competition and was runner-up in the 800-meter run as a senior....The owner of 13 all-state honors for her high school career, she was also runner-up in the 1,600 meters in 2006....The Kansas City Examiner's Female Track Athlete of the Year, Phillips also graduated as class valedictorian.
