Armentrout named ASA All-American

Missouri State softball player Michelle Armentrout has been tabbed a first-team All-American for her performance at the ASA Women’s Major Fast Pitch national championships in South Bend, Ind. Armentrout received the first-team nod at third base after leading her club, the Southern California Hurricanes, to a 3-2 record and fourth-place overall finish at the tournament, which was held Aug. 4-7.

A senior from Broken Arrow, Okla., Armentrout is a three-year starter at third base for head coach Holly Hesse’s Bears. Last year, she was MSU’s third-leading hitter with a .259 average to go along with four homers and 19 runs batted in.

The softball Bears will kick off their 2007 fall schedule with the Maroon and White game, Saturday, Sept. 8, at Missouri State Softball Field. The first pitch is slated for noon.
