Home Finale, Trip to Ranked Tulsa on Midweek Softball Docket
April 29, 2013
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Missouri State softball team (19-27, 10-11) will play its final home game of the season against Wichita State (18-29, 9-12) on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. The game was rescheduled due to the rained out doubleheader at Wichita on April 17. Last week, the Bears took both games of the twin bill in Kansas, posting 19 runs and 23 hits.
Tuesday's home finale has also been designated this season's "Pink Game" as the annual Missouri Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament was cancelled in early March. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game and admission to the game will be a voluntary donation to the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.
The Bears will then travel to Tulsa on Wednesday to play the Golden Hurricane (37-13-1) at 2:00 p.m. Tulsa was ranked No. 25 in last week's USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll and swept UTEP in its conference series over the weekend. Last year, the Bears took the Golden Hurricane to extra innings before falling by a 2-1 score.
Missouri State currently sits seventh in the Valley with one week of play remaining in the regular season. The Bears are a full game ahead of Wichita State and three games up on this weekend's opponent, Bradley. The top-8 teams get into the MVC Tournament, which will be held in Omaha, Neb., from May 9-11.
