Northern Iowa Defeats Softball Bears 7-0
Missouri State managed just three hits in a 7-0 loss to Northern Iowa, Saturday, at Cedar Falls, Iowa. The two teams were scheduled to play a three game weekend series, however, inclement weather reduced the series to just a single game. The softball Bears are now 19-12 overall and 8-7 in Missouri Valley Conference action.
Northern Iowa scored seven runs on eight hits off of MSU senior starting pitcher Melissa Porche. The Panthers scored two runs in the third and fourth innings and three more in the sixth to account for the final margin. Porche (11-9) struck out eight UNI batters and walked three in her 15th complete game of the season.
Junior Jessie Smith went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Bears. Freshman Jenna Schwark recorded the lone other MSU hit.
Missouri State will host Central Arkansas, Wednesday (April 16), in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. at the MSU Softball Field.
