Bears and Jayhawks Softball Doubleheader Set for Thursday Postponed

March 20, 2013

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - For the second-consecutive season, the Missouri State softball games against Kansas will be affected by weather. Anticipated winter weather conditions in both Springfield and Lawrence, Kan., have caused Thursday's doubleheader at Kansas to be postponed. Efforts to reschedule at least one of those games are on-going.

Last season, it was rain that forced the MSU-KU doubleheader to be moved back a week. The rescheduled twin bill resulted in a split with the Jayhawks taking game one, 4-2. Missouri State rallied in game two, coming from behind for a 5-4 victory.

This week, Missouri State dropped both games of a doubleheader against UMKC on Tuesday. Heather Duckworth hit her second home run of the year and Lauren Eisenreich picked up three hits in game two.

The Bears are set to travel to Terre Haute, Ind., to resume conference play with a three-game series against the Sycamores this weekend. MSU and ISU will play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday with games beginning at 11:00 a.m. Central time both days. The Bears return home next week for a conference series against Drake on March 29 and 30.
