March 17, 2013
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Overnight rain and the forecast for more precipitation and cold temperatures have forced the Missouri State-UNI series finale scheduled for noon on Sunday to be cancelled. The teams split the conference-opening doubleheader on Saturday. The Bears (10-12, 1-1) rallied for a game two, 8-2 win after the Panthers (11-16, 1-1) prevailing 4-3 in nine innings in game one.
With the Bears win in game two yesterday, head coach Holly Hesse picked up victory number 634 in her career giving her the second-most victories by a Valley coach all-time. She now trails only current Illinois State coach Melinda Fischer
Missouri State will continue its home stand on Tuesday with a doubleheader against UMKC at Killian Stadium. First pitch between the Bears and Kangaroos is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Both games on Tuesday can be heard on AM 1060 KBFL in Springfield or via the web at RadioSpringfield.com.
