Softball Bears Reschedule Game with Nationally-Ranked Missouri
March 4, 2013
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Missouri State head coach Holly Hesse announced Monday that her softball squad will now play a doubleheader against Missouri on Wednesday, April 3 beginning at 5:00 p.m. The added game is a result of the cancelled Missouri Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament this past weekend and gives the Bears the opportunity to play against the nationally-ranked Tigers twice this season as was originally scheduled.
The doubleheader against the Tigers will be the first since the team's split a twin bill here in Springfield on April 20, 1994. It will be Missouri's second visit to Killian Stadium, the first since the Missouri Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament held in March 2009.
The announcement comes on the heels of last week's news of rescheduled doubleheaders against SEMO and UMKC. MSU will travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo., to play a twin bill against the Redhawks this Thursday, March 7 beginning at 2:00 p.m. The Bears and Kangaroos will now play twice at Killian Stadium on Tuesday, March 19 starting at 3:00 p.m.
The schedule changes are a direct result of the recent cancellations of the Bears' scheduled home opener last Thursday and last weekend's Missouri Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
MediaCom telecast and KBFL radio broadcast announcements will be finalized in the near future.
