At Missouri State: Elysha Swider enters her senior campaign as the Bears' regular left fielder after making 79 starts in the MSU outfield over her first two years with the program.

2008: Swider saw action in 44 games as a junior, cracking the Bears' starting lineup in 43 of those contests ... posted a perfect fielding percentage in 55 total chances, recording one outfield assist ... batted a team-best .500 (15-for-30) when leading off an inning ... registered five multi-hit games ... plated the decisive run and was 2-for-3 with a triple in MSU's first win of the season, 1-0 decision over Miami (Ohio) (2/15) ... went 2-for-4 against Saint Louis (3/12) to start a season-best three-game hit streak ... homered, walked and scored two runs to key a 5-3 win at Drake (3/29) ... had two hits, including a double, in three at-bats in the Bears' 5-0 quarterfinal win over Southern Illinois (5/8) in the MVC Tournament.

2007: Swider started 33 games in the two corner outfield spots, batting .200 and posting a .971 fielding percentage defensively. She was named to the Central Arkansas Lead-Off Tournament all-tournament team.

Background: Swider came to Missouri State after playing her freshman year at Western Illinois University. She started 29 games and played in 41 total for the Westerwinds, hitting .226 with 21 hits, six doubles, a triple, and seven RBIs in 93 at-bats. At Eureka High, Swider was one of the top players in the St. Louis area, earning first team all-conference honors as a senior. She played her first three seasons of softball at Lafayette High, where she was a three-year starter at pitcher and in the outfield. Swider also played for the St. Louis Chaos Under 18 team in 2006, which finished eighth at the ASA Gold Nationals.

Personal: Elysha Ann Swider is the daughter of Richard and Vicki Swider. She was born January 12, 1987, in St. Louis, Mo. Her major is marketing/sales at Missouri State. Her father and uncle both played football for the University of Pittsburgh.
