At Missouri State:Megan Ramsey will be asked to contribute immediately to the pitching staff as a freshman.
Background: Ramsey was a standout pitcher for Ottawa High under coach Renee Malburg. As a senior, Ramsey posted an 11-2 record with a 0.94 ERA in 89 innings pitched, with 150 strikeouts and only nine walks. At the plate, she hit .385 with 12 RBIs and 11 runs scored as the Cyclones finished 17-4. She was named the Lawrence Journal-World All-Area Softball Player of the Year. As a junior, Ramsey went 14-1 on the hill with a 0.22 ERA in 95 2/3 innings with 201 strikeouts and hit .493 with 16 RBIs at the plate. She led her team to an 18-3 record, including a perfect 12-0 in conference play to win the league title. Ramsey helped Ottawa advance to the state tournament as a sophomore, picking up 10 wins on the mound with an amazing 0.06 ERA and 211 strikeouts in 103 innings pitched. As a freshman, Ramsey stepped into the spotlight, leading the Cyclones to the Class 4A state championship. She was 15-3 with a 0.67 ERA and 203 strikeouts in 115 2/3 innings and hit .513 with 18 RBIs to earn 4A first team all-state and second team all-class honors. In four season at Ottawa, Ramsey posted a 50-11 record with a 0.48 ERA and 765 strikeouts. She was a four-time all-area and all-league selection and guided her team to 70 wins in her career. Ramsey also excelled on the basketball court, averaging 14.5 points and six rebounds per game as a senior to earn all-league and all-area honors. She was a three-time all-state honorable mention selection. Ramsey was also a three-year starter on the volleyball team.
Personal: Megan Kay Ramsey is the daugher of Kent and Bonnie Ramsey. She was born September 25, 1987, in Ottawa, Kan. She is an administrative management major.
