Duewel will continue to be a mainstay in the infield while hitting the ball with power and producing big RBI numbers.
Duewel started 43 games and played in a total of 46 for the Bears in 2015 ... set career highs in nearly every offensive category including a school record .667 slugging percentage ... had 11 home runs and 30 RBI, second-most among Bears hitters ... nine of her 11 home runs came during MVC play and her .947 slugging percentage in Valley games was tops in the league ... was a perfect 8-for-8 in stolen base attempts ... had a .286 batting average that was fifth-highest on the team ... drew a walk and stole a base in the season-opener vs. Abilene Christian (Feb. 6) ... hit first home run of the season later in the day against ULM ... legged out a triple, drew a walk and drove in a run versus Penn State (Feb. 13), the beginning of a three-game RBI streak ... went 2-for-3 with a home run in each of the final two games versus Loyola, combining for five RBI over the two games ... hit a three-run home run at Wichita State in game one of twin bill, her third-straight game with a long ball ... collected three hits and four RBI including a three-run home run in doubleheader sweep at Illinois State (April 18) ... hit two home runs in series opener versus UNI, then racked up four hits in game two of the twin bill (April 25) ... blasted a two-run home run in the home finale versus UNI (April 26) ... was named MVC Player of the Week on April 27 ... hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the season finale at SIU (May 3) to clinch the #2 seed for MSU ... belted a two-run home run in the MVC Tournament final versus Indiana State (May 9) ... her tremendous season earned her All-MVC first team honors.
Duewel played in 42 games for the Bears and started 36 times ... hit .245 in 98 at-bats with seven extra-base hits ... one of just four Bears with multiple doubles, triples and home runs on the year ... led the Bears with a .500 average (6-for-12) against left-handed pitching ... drove in a career-high four runs against Indiana State (April 13) in 9-5 win going 3-for-3 at the plate with a walk and a run scored ... hit a solo home run in her first outing of the year at Georgia Tech (Feb. 8) ... went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI against Saint Louis (March 1) ... tripled, drove in two runs and scored in victory over Bradley (March 15) ... drew two walks, stole a base and scored once against #17/20 Minnesota (March 7) ... drove in two runs with a single and a sacrifice fly and successfully executed two sac bunts in walk-off win over Wichita State (April 22).
Duewel received medical redshirt after she only appeared in six early games before a season-ending injury ... reached on a fielder's choice and later scored following only at-bat of the season against Toledo (Feb. 23).
Duewel played in 27 games, getting nine starts in her first campaign with the Bears ... she picked up a base hit and scored a run in her first career game against Sam Houston State (Feb. 17) ... drove in her first career run against SEMO (Feb. 25) at the Blues City Classic in Memphis ... had her first multi-hit game at Eastern Illinois on March 22 ... worked a 14-pitch walk against Kansas (March 27) and eventually scored in a three-run inning for the Bears.
Duewel played four years of varsity softball for Raymore-Peculiar High School, earning first-team all-district and team most valuable player honors as a senior ... a versatile athlete who can play a number of different positions, Duewel was named to three all-conference squads during her career ... also competed for the Mac-N-Seitz Naturals club team.
Erin Paige Duewel is the daughter of Wendy and Todd Duewel ... born February 1, 1993, in Elgin, Ill. ... has one sister, Kelley, and one brother, Jason ... her father, Todd, played baseball at Texas Tech ... is a biology major at Missouri State.
