Sullinger has emerged as the top power hitter and RBI producer for the Bears after tying the school record for RBI in her sophomore season.
Sullinger started and played in 54 of the Bears' 55 games ... tied the single season school record with 46 RBI ... topped all MVC players with 28 two-out RBI ... led the Bears with six home runs, 86 total bases, 14 multi-RBI games and tied for the team lead with four triples ... had a career-best seven-game hitting streak from March 9 through March 18 ... on Valentine's Day, she went a combined 4-for-7 against UT-Arlington and Central Michigan with three home runs, seven RBI and three runs scored ... was named MVC Player of the Week (Feb. 17) after recording 10 hits, a .625 batting average and a 1.250 slugging percentage over the five-game UTA Maverick Invitational ... drove in five runs with a pair of triples and three stolen bases at the Blues City Classic (Feb. 21-23) ... singled, drove in a run and scored twice at Central Arkansas (March 11) ... went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI against Northern Colorado (March 18) ... hit safely in all four games against Drake (March 7, April 5-6) with four runs batted in and two runs scored ... had a 2-for-4 outing in game one at Loyola (April 7), scored twice and drove in two runs on a double ... in the series finale versus Indiana State (April 13), she went 3-for-4 with two RBI, a triple and a run scored ... recorded four hits, including a triple and a home run, with four RBI in the series against Illinois State (April 26-27) ... went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles and two runs scored against Evansville in the series opener (May 3) ... hit an RBI double in the MVC Tournament versus UNI (May 8) to tie the school record for RBI in a season ... earned MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors (May 7) following her five-hit, five-RBI, two-doubles, two-runs scored series at Evansville ... named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete honorable mention team following the season.
Sullinger got playing time in 29 games with four starting assignments ... made the most of her first career start as she put down a successful squeeze bunt and drilled a two-run home run, her first career hit, against Toledo (Feb. 23) ... had a two-run pinch-hit double at home against UMKC (March 19) ... had a RBI and a run scored in home victory over Evansville (April 20) ... was successful in four of five opportunities with a runner at third and less than two outs.
Sullinger was the starting shortstop all four years for head coach Stuart Sullinger at Park Hill High ... was a first-team all-state, all-region, all-conference and all-district honoree as a senior and set the school record for batting average, slugging percentage, RBI and triples ... earned the school's silver slugger award for the second-straight season and was named MVP of the team ... as a junior, Sullinger set the school record for home runs in leading her team to a second-place finish in districts ... was an all-region, all-conference and all-district first team selection in her junior year ... in 2009, she was named to the first-team all-conference and all-district squads while guiding her squad to a second-place finish in districts ... as a freshman, she was named all-district first team and all-conference second team while earning the school's golden glove award for the first time ... also played basketball at Park Hill.
Bethany Ann Sullinger is the daughter of Paula and Stuart Sullinger ... born January 9, 1994, in Kansas City, Mo. ... has one brother, Jacob, who played baseball at SBU ... is majoring in middle school education at MSU.
