SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Missouri Valley Conference regular season concludes on Thursday as the Missouri State women's soccer team (5-9-3, 2-1-2) plays host to league champs the Illinois State Redbirds (11-6-0, 5-0-0) at Plaster Field at 7:00 p.m. The six-team field for the MVC Women's Soccer Championship is set with just the seeding below the top-seeded Redbirds remaining to be determined on Thursday.

"Illinois State had a fantastic year and are the defending champions," said head coach Rob Brewer. "We would like to see where we can best match up with them if we face them again in the Tournament. Our goal is to keep getting better and improve with each day of training."

Missouri State is assured of its 17th MVC Tournament appearance and will be among the top-four teams in the league when the dust settles on Thursday evening. The Bears are currently third in the league following their first defeat in league action last Friday at Indiana State.

Sophomore Molly Brewer tied a career high when she scored her third goal of the year last week at Indiana State. Her second-half tally knotted the match at 1-1.

MSU goalkeeper Jessica Perry has the second-best goals against average (1.09) among league keepers. She has a pair of shutouts during league play and four total on the season.

If the Bears become the second seed, necessitated by a win on Thursday and a loss or draw by Indiana State, MSU would receive a bye into the semifinals to be played in Evansville next Friday (November 8). If MSU remains the three-seed or falls to the four-seed, the Bears will host an opening round match at Plaster Field on Sunday (November 3) at 5:00 p.m.
