The Missouri State women’s soccer team will host Indiana State University on Friday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 p.m. at Plaster Field in Springfield, Mo. The contest between the Bears and the Sycamores is the final home and regular season match of the season.
Missouri State enters the weekend ranked fifth in the Missouri Valley standings with a 9-6-1 overall record and a 2-3 mark in the Valley. Indiana State is sixth in the MVC with a 3-13 overall record and a 1-4 MVC mark. Even after suffering a disappointing 2-0 loss last weekend to the Redbirds, Missouri State still leads the conference in fewest goals allowed (16) and goals against average (0.98) this season.
Missouri State could finish anywhere from fourth to sixth in the league standings. Should Missouri State and Creighton (3-3 in Valley) end up with identical marks in a two-way tie with each other, the Bears would get the edge and a No. 4 seed in the MVC Tournament since they beat the Bluejays. In that scenario, the Bears would face host Creighton (a No. 5 seed) in the first round of the MVC tourney.
