Missouri State Battles Creighton to 1-1 Tie on Senior Day
The Missouri State women's soccer team battled Creighton to a 1-1 tie in its last regular-season home game of the year. Senior Kate Hercules scored the lone goal for the Bears in the match honoring five MSU seniors. The tie gives the Bears a 9-6-2 overall record and a 2-2-1 mark in the Valley. Creighton moves to 7-6-2 on the season and is 1-1-1 in the conference. After a scoreless first half, Hercules put the Bears on the board in the 68th minute of the contest off a free kick from senior Caroline Rooker. The goal was Hercules' third of the season and 14th of her career. Creighton scored the equalizer three minutes later when Lindsay Vaught made the best of a jumbled play and sent the match into overtime. The Bluejays outshot the Bears 4-2 in overtime. MSU goalkeeper Jackie Jasper made two outstanding saves in the first overtime period, including one with just 24 seconds to play. Jasper totaled 11 saves in the game as CU goalkeeper posted three. Missouri State will take on Illinois State in its last regular-season conference match on Sunday, Oct. 22, in Normal, Ill. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
