Goalkeeper Jessica Teahan Named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

Missouri State women's soccer senior goalkeeper Jessica Teahan was named Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Wednesday the league office announced. The award comes one day after she earned MVC Goalkeeper Player of the Week honors and is her second scholar-athlete award of the season.
Teahan, who holds a 3.83 GPA in early childhood education, continues to be a brick wall in net for the Bears. She recorded eight saves in another 1-0 Bears' win, this time over conference foe Illinois State. Teahan has recorded shutouts in three-straight matches and has a Valley-leading five shutouts this season. In four career matches against Illinois State, Teahan has allowed the Redbirds just one goal in 400 minutes of play.
She has started all 12 matches in net for the Bears this season. Since Labor Day, Teahan has led Missouri State on a seven-game unbeaten streak (6-0-1). The team has allowed just one goal over those seven matches.
To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
The women's soccer team will wrap up its three-game home stand on Friday (Oct. 7) night. MSU will face Drake at Plaster Field at 7:00 p.m.
