Women's Soccer Wins at Indiana State For First Conference Victory
Missouri State Freshman Allison Osmundson scored with just over a minute left in the second overtime period to open the Bears' Missouri Valley Conference women's soccer season with a 1-0 win over Indiana State (3-6-1, 0-1 in MVC), Friday night in Terre Haute, Ind. The Bears (6-2-2, 1-0 in MVC) will continue conference play against the University of Evansville, Sunday at noon in Evansville, Ind.
The game winner came off a corner kick by Megan Beebe that fell in front of the box. Osmundson kicked the ball off the top post, then scored off her own rebound.
The Bears had some great chances in the second half of action, with two looks from Beebe, one at the 34:57 mark that just missed the left side, and another that was blocked over the top cross bar by Indiana State goalkeeper Rachel Rudzis. Kate Blair and Angela Parsons each had three shots for Missouri State, placing two on goal.
Missouri State outshot the Sycamores 15-10, 4-0 in the second overtime period, with 13 corner kicks to Indiana State's eight. Jackie Jasper (6-2-2) pulled in five saves on the night and earned the win in goal for the Bears.
