Dobkins Nets First Goal, Soccer Bears Defeat Oral Roberts 3-2
Junior Jenna Dobkins netted her first goal of the season as the Missouri State women's soccer team defeated
Dobkins put the Bears on the scoreboard early in the game netting her first goal of the season at the 1:14 minute mark in the first-half. A corner kick resulted in a scramble play, where Dobkins was able to capitalize and net the goal.
The Bears attacked again in 10th minute when junior Jessica Smits sent a corner kick into close range and midfielder Allison Osmundson headed the ball into the back of the net past ORU’s keeper Amanda Wheeler. The goal gave the Bears a 2-0 lead over the Golden Eagles.
Senior forward Caroline Sweeney scored at the 55:22 minute mark when she hammered the ball into the back of the net with her head off a cross pass from midfielder Christine Cross.
Oral Roberts did not give up despite being down 3-0 in the second-half and netted their first goal of the match in the 65th minute of the game. ORU’s Natalya Manyan scored her sixth goal of the season off a combination play down the middle of the field.
The Golden Eagles pulled within one of the Bears when Maria Grados netted her fourth goal of the season late in the second-half.
Bears' keeper Jasper recorded six saves in the match earning the win.
