TULSA, Okla. - The Missouri State women's soccer team (1-2-1) got a late equalizing goal from junior Alix Opfer and played Oral Roberts (0-2-2) to a 2-2 draw to wrap up the Holiday Inn City Center Tulsa Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Fellow junior Molly Brewer had a goal and an assist in the match, her fourth career assist against the Golden Eagles.

"We are playing well on that side of the ball," said head coach Rob Brewer on the Bears' four-goal weekend. "We obviously need to tighten some things up on defense. Oral Roberts is a good team and I am proud of the way we were able to come back in this match."

The Bears got the scoring underway in the 18th minute. Lauren Fussell had time and space in the back and found a wide open Molly Brewer up the right side. Brewer controlled the ball behind the ORU defense and scored her second goal of the weekend to put MSU in front 1-0. The assist was Fussell's second of the season.

In the second half, ORU tied the match in the 50th minute and took a brief lead in the 83rd minute.

Just over a minute later, the Bears earned their fourth corner of the half. Brewer served the ball in and Opfer got a head on it, but the initial shot was blocked by the ORU keeper. The rebound fell right to Opfer who scored her first career goal to pull the match even.

Junior goalkeeper Jessica Perry played all 110 minutes in net. She made four saves, all during regulation play.

The Bears return home to Allison South on Sunday, September 7 for a 1:00 p.m. tilt against Arkansas State. That match will mark the beginning of five out of six games on the MSU slate to be played at home. Sunday's match will be televised on MC22 on tape-delay and a free clinic will follow that match for youth grades K-8.
